Biography of Wilhelm von Humboldt
Wilhelm von Humboldt was a German philologist, philosopher, linguist, statesman, and diplomat.
He was born on June 22, 1767, in Potsdam, Germany.

Wilhelm studied law at the universities of Frankfurt (Oder) and Göttingen from 1787 to 1789.
Early Career and Diplomatic Service
From 1801 to 1810, Wilhelm served as the Prussian resident at the Papal Court in Rome. During this time, he also held the position of Director of the Department of Confessions and Education.
He introduced Pestalozzi's methods in primary schools, separated education from the control of the church, restructured the Prussian Academy of Sciences, and founded the Berlin University (now known as Humboldt Universi Toggle share options CIPE
